transcosmos Korea Inc. (Headquarters: Seoul, Korea; President: Ha, HunSik; hereafter, transcosmos Korea), a subsidiary of transcosmos inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya Ward, Tokyo; President and COO: Masataka Okuda; Securities code: 9715; hereafter, transcosmos) that provides call center services for the domestic Korean market, formed a strategic business alliance on November 9, 2009 with KT Corporation (Headquarters: Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, Korea; Chairman: Lee Suk-Chai; hereafter, KT), which is Korea’s largest communications company.

KT is Korea’s largest communications company, conducting operations in Korea such as broadband business “QOOK,” cellular telephone business “SHOW,” ISP business “Paran,” and public wireless network LAN business “Nespot.” It also has the industry’s largest call center operating subsidiary (*1) within its group. In addition, Korea’s call center market in 2008 was 1.6 trillion Won, with a growth rate of 107.4%, making it the second largest market in Asia after Japan. Within this market, the KT Group had the largest number of call center work stations (approx. 20,000). (*2). *1 transcosmos Korea is the largest independent company. *2 Calculated by transcosmos based on data released by the Korea Call Center Association.

Through this business alliance transcosmos Korea will provide contract services for a portion of the call center business conducted by the KT Group, and it started operations in January 2010 at two centers with approximately 900 work stations. The projected annual sales for this business in 2010 are 25 billion Won (1 Won = Approx. ¥0.008). The KT Group and transcosmos Korea will continue to actively pursue this partnership in the future.

In connection with the current business alliance, the KT business customer department head and President Lee Sang-Hoon visited the transcosmos headquarters to hold a ceremony on December 4, 2009.

The following comments were received from KT business customer department head and President Lee Sang-Hoon. “Beginning with the current business alliance, I am confident that we can build a long-term partnership that will be a Win-Win for both of our companies by sharing and developing the core competencies, including infrastructure and solutions, of transcosmos with its worldwide call center operation know-how and KT as Korea’s largest IMO (infrastructure management outsourcing) provider, in order to develop new services and open up new markets. We will continue striving to maximize the satisfaction level of the client companies and customers who use our services through the combined efforts of both companies.”

With customer assets consisting of over 100 major Korean companies as a base, transcosmos Korea provides services such as direct mail and solution operations in addition to call center operations in Korea, and at the same time is expanding IT outsourcing operations through the development of new business by combining various operations that transcosmos conducts (BPO operations, data entry operations, etc.). Furthermore, transcosmos supports the “Global IT Partners” that it targets, and it is striving to strengthen the operating bases in Japan, China and Korea by also providing support for the expansion of Japanese companies in Korea and the overseas expansion of Korean companies.

Based on the current business alliance with KT, transcosmos Korea will promote co-marketing with KT in the future. This provides transcosmos Korea with an opportunity to expand its call center services for KT Group companies, their primary financial group and other enterprises, where it was difficult for transcosmos Korea to participate on its own up until now. Taking advantage of this opportunity to enter the KT Group call center market, transcosmos Korea aims for further expansion of business in the future, as well as making a contribution to the development of the Korean outsourcing market by bringing together the KT Group, Korea’s largest communications enterprise, with the experience and know-how of transcosmos, with its longtime outsourcing track record in Japan.

(About transcosmos inc.)

We launched operations in 1966 as a pioneer in the information processing outsourcing business. Since then we have brought together people and technology through careful effort while striving to enhance the competitive strength of our customers’ enterprises by converting high added value to superior service.

Since June 2002 broadband and VOIP spread diffusely, resulting in a more direct and rich connections between enterprises and consumers, and in particular, in an era in which enterprise marketing activities were revolutionized. Recognizing this, we brought out “Marketing Chain Management Company” as an enterprise slogan and endeavored to drive business. Today, telephone, web, email, and even video communication are united through the hub of the Internet protocol and a completely new communication channel is emerging. This means Internet expertise has become indispensable in call-center and contact-center services. Moving forward, transcosmos will make the most of our distinctive strengths, always adopting the latest Internet technology and developing outsourcing services. It is our intention to promote interactive marketing services that offer speed, increased sales, cost reduction and improved customer satisfaction to our customer’s enterprises.
